Hot Stone & Indian Head Massage Training | Specialist Day in Shipley, Bradford

Two of the most deeply therapeutic treatments in massage therapy.

There are treatments that relax. And then there are treatments that genuinely transform how someone feels in their body. Hot stone massage and Indian Head Massage are both in that second category — and this specialist day teaches you to deliver both of them to a standard that will set your practice apart.

These are not add-ons. They are not extras you bolt onto a menu to fill a gap. They are profound, results-driven treatments that clients come back for again and again — and when they're done well, they create the kind of experience people talk about.

Hot Stones: Why Heat Changes Everything

There is something that happens when you introduce heat into a massage that no amount of manual pressure alone can replicate.

Warmth penetrates. It reaches the deeper layers of muscle before your hands even begin to work. It softens fascia, increases circulation, and allows the tissue to release in a way that is simply not possible when working on a cold, guarded body. Clients who have held chronic tension for years — in their backs, their shoulders, their legs — often feel shifts during a hot stone treatment that nothing else has been able to produce.

But hot stone massage is not just about placing warm stones on the body and waiting. The real skill is in using the stones actively — as an extension of your hands, working alongside your technique to get deeper into the muscle with less effort and more effect. Done properly, hot stone massage is one of the most powerful tools in a therapist's kit. It transforms the quality of your work and the depth of results you can achieve for your clients.

This day teaches you to use stones the right way — with technique, intention, and full heat safety awareness.

Indian Head Massage: Taught From the Source

I didn't learn Indian Head Massage from a manual. I learned it in India.

I trained in the authentic Ayurvedic tradition — the system of healing that Indian Head Massage comes from — and that experience shapes everything about how I teach it. This is not a Westernised version stripped of its roots. This is the real thing, taught with an understanding of the principles, the energy system, and the philosophy that makes it what it is.

Indian Head Massage works on the head, neck, shoulders, and scalp — areas that carry an enormous amount of tension and are often completely neglected in standard massage treatments. It works with marma points — the energy points of the Ayurvedic tradition — and creates a depth of relaxation that goes far beyond the physical. Clients often describe it as one of the most profoundly calming treatments they have ever experienced.

As a standalone treatment it is exceptional. Combined with hot stone work, it creates something genuinely special — a full experience that addresses the body and the nervous system together.

Teaching this with authenticity matters to me deeply. When you learn Indian Head Massage with me, you're learning it properly — with its lineage intact.

What Is the Hot Stone & Indian Head Massage Specialist Day?

This is a one-day intensive specialist course at my studio in Shipley, Bradford. It covers both treatments in full, giving you everything you need to offer them professionally from the moment you leave.

You'll need a massage certificate to join — and if you don't have one yet, you can complete the LuceZen Complete Massage Foundation first. That's all the foundation you need.

All theory is completed at home before the day. Every hour in the studio is entirely hands-on practice.

What You'll Learn

Hot stone technique, heat safety and contraindications Before anything else, you'll understand how to work with heat safely — temperatures, timing, checking, and contraindications specific to hot stone work. Safety is the foundation everything else is built on.

Full hot stone routine — back, legs, arms and feet A complete, flowing hot stone sequence across the whole body. You'll learn how to structure the treatment, how to transition between areas, and how to create a cohesive, deeply therapeutic experience from start to finish.

Using stones actively alongside hands-on massage This is what separates a skilled hot stone therapist from someone just placing stones. You'll learn to use the stones as working tools — held in the hand, used alongside your own technique — to access deeper layers of muscle and create release that hands alone cannot achieve.

Indian Head Massage — Ayurvedic principles and technique The philosophy and principles behind the practice, taught properly. You'll understand where this treatment comes from, how it works energetically as well as physically, and how to approach it with the depth it deserves.

Working with the head, neck, shoulders and scalp A full Indian Head Massage sequence covering all the key areas — including marma point work, scalp techniques, and the specific approach to the neck and shoulders that makes this treatment so profoundly effective for tension and stress.

Creating a premium, deeply healing client experience How to combine both treatments, how to present them, and how to deliver the kind of session that clients will return for and recommend to everyone they know.
